Tyreek Hill makes bold comparison between 2023 Dolphins and 2019 Chiefs
Miami’s wide receiver spoke on CBS and was asked about the chances of the Dolphins doing what Kansas City did at Super Bowl LIV.
The Miami Dolphins (8-3) have their sights set on representing the American Football Conference (AFC) in Super Bowl LVIII, and wide receiver Tyreek Hill is confident that his team can achieve this goal. Currently leading the AFC East, the South Florida team is just one win away from the top spot in the conference, currently held by the Baltimore Ravens (9-3).
“2023 Dolphins probably better than 2019 Chiefs”
Hill’s belief in the Dolphins’ potential stems from his conviction that the 2023 Dolphins are superior to the Kansas City Chiefs team with which he won Super Bowl LIV. Speaking to CBS Sports, the wide receiver stated that head coach Mike McDaniel and the team have everything it takes to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
“We’ve got the perfect team to do it,” Hill responded when asked if the Dolphins could make it to the Super Bowl.
“The way our head coach prepares us each and every week, man, it’s next level. He keeps each and every one of his guys in tune and how we keep attention to detail each and every week, it’s a beautiful thing to see.
“The way we practice, the way we play for one another is something that I’ve never seen before. I won a Super Bowl, and I feel like this is probably a better team than when we won the Super Bowl back when I was on KC.”
2019 Chiefs vs 2023 Dolphins
In 2019, Hill’s Chiefs excelled both offensively and defensively in the air. The unit led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes ranked fifth in yards (4,498) and touchdowns (30). On the defensive side, they held opponents to 3,543 passing yards, with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 21-16.
Currently, the Dolphins boast the league’s top passing attack with 3,138 yards and 23 touchdown passes, orchestrated by Tua Tagovailoa. However, their defensive performance has been inconsistent, particularly in disappointing losses to the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7.
As for Tyreek Hill’s individual statistics in 2023, he is on track to have the best year statistically of his career. The West Alabama alum leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,324) and touchdowns (10). The wide receiver has caught 88 of the 120 passes thrown his way.
