“Wake me up from the dream”: Diggs on watching Parsons in Green Bay

Micah Parsons is not only not a Cowboy - he’s a Packer. And that reality has been harder to accept for some more than others.

Update:

The reality of life without Micah Parsons hasn’t fully set in for Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs.

Earlier this month, the Cowboys stunned the NFL world by trading Parsons, their star linebacker and defensive anchor, to the Green Bay Packers. The blockbuster move ended months of tense contract negotiations but left teammates like Diggs grappling with the loss of one of their closest friends in the locker room.

Diggs still reeling after Micah Parsons’ Packers debut

Dallas opened the season on Thursday with a narrow 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, while Parsons had to wait until Sunday for his Packers debut. Even in limited action, he made an immediate impact at Lambeau Field, logging one sack on Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff in a 27-13 Green Bay victory.

For Diggs, watching his longtime teammate suit up in a different uniform didn’t feel real. He took to social media after the game to share his reaction, posting: “This can’t be real. Wake me up from the dream.”

Cowboys fans can relate. Parsons played just 30 snaps as he continues to recover from a lingering back injury but still reminded everyone why he’s considered one of the league’s most dominant defenders.

While Diggs and Parsons won’t square off directly on the field, the two will cross paths again soon. The Packers are set to visit Arlington in Week 4, giving the Cowboys and their fans a bittersweet reunion with the linebacker who once defined their defense.

Before that, Dallas will look to rebound from the Week 1 loss when they host the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.
