WATCH: Bill Belichick’s rant on Jets ownership during MNF week 6 Manningcast

The legendary head coach has history, albeit brief, with the New York franchise, and that is not something he’s letting go anytime soon.

“The owner being the owner, ready, fire, aim,” was the simple, but pointed summary Bill Belichick gave to follow up his comment that the Jets have “barely won over 30% in the last 10 years.”

Belichick’s “unblemished” Jets record

“I was the head coach of the Jets twice,” Belichick added before doubling down on his record there. “Undefeated, un-scored on... my career as a coach at the Jets is unblemished.” Watch for yourself.

For those that may have forgotten, and are confused by the “un-scored on” claim, Belichick was the head coach of the New York Jets for just one day in January 2000. He had been named Bill Parcells’ successor, but he resigned with that handwritten note on a napkin after only 24 hours, citing discomfort with the team’s future.

Soon after, he became the head coach of the New England Patriots, a role in which he went on to build one of the most successful coaching careers in NFL history.

The New York team, now 2-4, lost 20-23 to the Bills on Monday Night Football and next up face the Steelers (4-2) on Sunday night.
