Watson and Kamara to likely receive substantial suspension from NFL in 2022 season

As the NFL conducts its own policy on its players, Watson and Kamara might miss time in the 2022 season with potential suspensions hanging over their heads.

Deshaun Watson, the Browns QB who still has four pending sexual assault lawsuits against him, and Saints RB Alvin Kamara, allegedly await heavy suspensions from the league ahead of the 2022 NFL season.

According to multiple reports, Watson could reportedly be suspended up to an entire season, if not indefinitely, while the New Orleans Saints running back is reportedly bracing a six-week suspension.

NFL conducting its own policy against Watson

Since being traded to the Cleveland Browns with an enormous $230 million contract back in March, Watson has consistently made headlines amid 24 sexual misconduct accusations.

On Tuesday, attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents all 24 women, announced that Watson has settled 20 of the 24 lawsuits. But even with all these settled lawsuits, and grand juries declining criminal charges, “settling doesn’t give someone a pass” as reports have emerged that the 26-year-old could still face punishment from the league.

Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson reported that the Browns are expecting the NFL to hand Watson a “lengthy suspension,” while the NFL Players Association is preoccupied with the idea that Watson could be suspended “for the entire 2022 season, if not indefinitely.”

Consequences for the quarterback would likely be a ramification of the league’s personal conduct policy. The same is to be said about Kamara.

Why could Alvin Kamara be suspended by the NFL?

The 26-year-old running back for the Saints is reportedly facing a six-week suspension for a different reason. He was involved in an altercation in Las Vegas, ahead of this year’s Pro Bowl. Kamara reportedly told police he threw “a couple punches” during a fight at a nightclub. And immediately after playing the Pro Bowl, the University of Tennessee product was arrested by police at Allegiant Stadium.

While there is nothing set yet from the NFL, both these players’ situations are still progressing. Lawsuits against Watson are still active and Kamara is set to have a hearing on Aug. 1.
