What are Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes numbers when compared with Bills’ Josh Allen?

Sunday night is going to be ‘lit’ when these two potential AFC Champions, led by these two quarterbacks have a go at each other in NFL Week 6.

Update:
Patrick Mahomes vs Josh Allen: head-to-head

As the two young QBs prepare to take on each other on Sunday night, we’re taking a look at how they stack up against each other by the numbers. Let’s dive in!

Mahomes & Allen are two of the best QBs in the NFL right now

If even you’re a casual NFL fan, you can surely recall when Patrick Mahomes turned the NFL upside down in 2018. The Chiefs signal caller essentially forced the entire league to rethink what a quarterback could be, as he pretty much did everything, both inside and outside of the pocket. What’s more, is that Mahomes did it with the kind of style, flair and above all calmness that you’d expect from a much older player. This brings us to Bills QB Josh Allen, who Mahomes and his Chiefs are about to take on in a Sunday night duel that promises to be spectacular.

This will be the fifth meeting between the two All-Pro passers and while the Chiefs as a team hold the edge of Allen and the Bills, it would be a mistake to assume that when it comes to the quarterbacks, the difference in quality is as clear. To be fair, these are two AFC contenders and both are aware that they potentially block each other’s path to glory. With that in mind, we’re going to take a look at how the two QBs match up.

Patrick Mahomes vs Josh Allen by the numbers

Unlike Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes hit the ground running in the NFL. Indeed, the Chiefs man in the middle was prolific from day one, whereas Allen had to get a feel for things bit by bit, before he came to the point that he’s at now, which is to say dominant in every sense of the word. At any rate, what’s interesting is the fact that their stats are relatively similar since that 2018 season, which was Allen’s rookie campaign and Mahomes’ first as Kansas City’s starter. Ultimately, this is how they match up where regular season numbers are concerned specifically:

StatisticJosh AllenPatrick Mahomes

Passing Yards15,76520,389
Passing TDs117166

Rushing TDs338
Total TDS151174

What’s the head-to-head record between Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes?

Coming into Sunday’s game, Mahomes’ Chiefs hold a 3-1 record over Allen’s Bills across both the regular season and the playoffs. Of Mahomes’ three wins over Allen, two of them have been critical games. Firstly, there was the 2020 AFC championship game in which the Chiefs booked their pass to the Super Bowl, which they won. Then of course, there was that marathon of a match in 2021, when Mahomes would outlast Allen in an 42-36 OT win that would go on to change the way in which the league’s overtime rules work.

Who’s got the stronger arm between Patrick Mahomes & Josh Allen?

If we’re honest, both of these guys should probably get examined - not tested - for some kind of bionic or nanotech augmentation. At the 2017 NFL Combine, Mahomes’ ball velocity was tracked at 60 mph. Think about that. Then there was Allen in 2018 who checked in at 62 mph. Like we said, these boys should be inspected. To punctuate the point, during his Pro Day, Allen nonchalantly threw a handful of passes over 80 yards. In case you were wondering, Mahomes did the same. Can you tell we’re excited about Sunday night’s matchup?
