What are the decals on the Ravens’ helmets? What the stickers represent

A logo, a shield, the American flag, or some other symbol can be used, but sometimes it gets really personal.

You will be familiar with the large raven head with the letter “B”, but this 2024 season will see the Baltimore Ravens wear special helmet decals to honour former wide receiver Jacoby Jones and offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris, both of whom passed away during the offseason.

The decals will feature the names “Joe D.” and “Jacoby,” along with Jones’s iconic No. 12, symbolising their lasting impact on the team.

Who were Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris?

Jones, who passed away at age 40, is remembered for his key role in the Ravens’ Super Bowl XLVII win, where he made a 108-yard kickoff return – an unforgettable Super Bowl moment. After retiring as a Raven, Jones transitioned into coaching.

D’Alessandris was a respected coach with over four decades of experience, but died late August at the age of 70. He joined the Ravens in 2017 and became known for his dedication to developing one of the league’s top offensive lines.

These decals will serve as a season-long tribute to two men who left an indelible mark on the Ravens organisation. The Ravens get the 2024 NFL campaign going on Thursday night against the champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
