What did CeeDee Lamb say to Dak Prescott after interception vs Steelers?
Prescott threw an inexplicable interception in the direction of Lamb during their Steelers win and cameras showed the WR yelling something in his direction.
Update: Lamb reveals what he really said to Prescott
The Dallas Cowboys ended up getting the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in a game that had nearly a 90-minute rain/lightning delay. But in addition to quarterback Dak Prescott’s two touchdown passes, he also threw two interceptions, one of which was in the direction of wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
It was a baffling moment that still hasn’t been clarified. There was a clear lack of communication there somehow as either Prescott or Lamb clearly made a mistake. Just after the interception, cameras caught Lamb yelling something at Prescott, who simply looked down at the ground and did not respond.
What did Lamb say to Prescott after interception?
A few weeks ago, when the Cowboys lost to the Baltimore Ravens, there was some on-field tension between Lamb and Prescott. Lamb was having a bad game and didn’t handle it very well at the time, throwing his hands on the ground and yelling at Prescott on the sidelines. He later apologized and explained that he had reacted in frustration with himself and that he and Prescott do not have any issues with each other.
In their win over the New York Giants the following week, Prescott and Lamb did seem to start finding their groove again on the field, but this moment on Sunday had people questioning whether everything really is okay between the two of them.
It is still unclear exactly what Lamb said to Prescott. Some guesses have been: “Subpar throw”, “Some ball control, come on”, or “Jump balls four. Jump balls, I got you”.
Depending on which of those he actually said (if any), you could interpret them different ways. The first two would show obvious frustration but the second could just be Lamb telling Prescott (number four) to throw high and trust that he’ll make the catch in the air.
Announcers Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico speculated that whatever he said was not good:
“Hard to explain, just throwing into coverage and something is wrong. CeeDee Lamb at the end of that...I’ll let you read your own lips,” Collinworth said. “Dak doesn’t react at all. It doesn’t look good.”
Whatever it was that Lamb said, the Cowboys did come away with the win and Prescott made up for the turnovers (he also had one fumble) with a game-winning touchdown pass to WR Jalen Tolbert with 20 seconds left. They improved to 3-2 on the season and will face the Detroit Lions at home next Sunday.
