From the moment he said goodbye to the game, there has been speculation about if he would return. After all, he ‘unretired’ shortly after calling it quits the first time. Then came the reports about his new foray into ownership with the Las Vegas Raiders and of course the rumor mill only intensified.

Tom Brady squashes return rumors

By now you’ve probably seen all of the speculation surrounding whether or not Tom Brady will return to the field. It was only last off season when the iconic No. 12 decided to hang up his boots albeit for the second time and since then fans have never stopped fueling the flames. Then, he recently decided to enter into the realm of ownership with a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. As you can imagine it wasn’t long before fans were once again losing their minds over the possibility of Brady suiting up in silver and black. Yet, we now safely say that it’s not going to happen as Brady himself has finally spoken.

“I’m certain I’m not playing again,” Brady said. “So I’ve tried to make that clear and I hate to continue to profess that, because I’ve already told people that lots of times.” Brady also went to reference his coming career as an analyst with Fox Sports, a venture he is apparently very much excited about. ”But I’m looking forward to my broadcasting job at Fox next year,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity ahead with the Raiders and we’re in the process of that along with the other different things that I’m a part of professionally and in my personal life.”

It’s also about family for Tom Brady

As you may also recall, last year also saw the end of Brady’s marriage to model, Gisele Bündchen, with whom the seven-time Super Bowl champion has three children. Indeed, his repeated absence as a partner and father due to the demands of his career was cited among the reasons why the relationship broke down. “Just spending as much time with my kids as I can and seeing them grow up and support the different things that they have going on,” the 45-year-old said. “And that’s a very important job. And I take them all pretty seriously.”

Ultimately, we’re going to take Brady at his word here. After all, there really isn’t anything left to be achieved for a player who spent over two decades in the NFL and won everything there is to win. From his record seven Super Bowls in 10 appearances in the big game, to countless individual records, is nobody quite like Brady. Fans can still hope though.
