Why did Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen get divorced?

An argument between the seven-time Superbowl winning quarterback and the supermodel led to irreconcilable differences.

Update:
un mes de anunciar su divorcio, Gisele Bündchen muestra su amor en publicación de Instagram de Tom Brady. Te compartimos todos los detalles.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen filed for divorce on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022. The pair filed similar messages on Instagram saying that “co-parenting” would be their priority. In total the couple were married for 13 years; they have two children together, Benjamin (12) and Vivian (9). They also parent Brady’s first child Jack (15), who he had with former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

In breaking the news to his followers, Brady said that the couple “arrived at this decision [to divorce] amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.” Brady said the priority for the couple is their children and that they plan to “work together as parents” to “ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.

The drifting apart was sparked by the seven-time Superbowl winning quarterback’s decision to come out of retirement just under six weeks after announcing he was putting down his helmet. Reportedly the legendary supermodel “was so happy when he announced his retirement, and she wasn’t thrilled at all when he went back on that,” according to a source that spoke to People.

Gisele had “concerns” about her husband returning to football

It was reported that the couple had an epic row when Brady decided to return to the field. Gisele moved out of the family’s Tampa Bay house to go to Costa Rica and spent time away living in separate residences the family own. However, in a recent interview with Elle magazine she downplayed the idea that she was the one that was desperate for him to retire, agreeing that the characterization is sexist.

“Obviously, I have my concerns,” she said. “This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present. I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”

She has been uncharacteristically absent from any of the Buccaneers’ games since the start of the 2022 season.

Brady and Bündchen problems are more than just football

Anonymous sources speaking to ET said that Gisele “also has her own dreams and aspirations and doesn’t want to have to keep putting her goals on hold.” Speaking to Elle she said: “I have a huge list of things that I have to do, that I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected with my purpose.”

She would like to see him spend more time with their children, son Benjamin, 12, and 9-year-old daughter Vivian, product of their marriage as well as Brady’s son Jack, 15, with ex Bridget Moynahan, who Bündchen has raised as her own. She had thought with his retirement “she was getting what she asked for.” She now feels that her husband has picked his career over his family “and she is tired of it.”

“They are weighing their options for their future as a family and thinking about what next steps might look like,” a source said. Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen were married in 2009.
