With reports confirming that the former Raiders player will enter a guilty plea, the focus now turns to whether the presiding judge will accept the terms and what that will mean for both him and the family of the deceased young woman whose life was taken in the crash.

Henry Ruggs III to plead guilty in fatal DUI case

According to a statement from his attorneys on Tuesday, former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will plead guilty to a felony charge of DUI resulting in death and a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter. Ruggs was of course accused of driving up to 156mph down residential streets, with a blood-alcohol content of 0.16%, at the time of a crash which resulted in the deaths of a 23-year-old woman, Tina Tintor, and her dog in November of 2021. At the time he was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and possession of a firearm while under the influence, and was subsequently released by the Raiders following confirmation of his involvement in the tragedy.

What do we know of Henry Ruggs’ situation right now?

It is understood that Ruggs’ has not yet formally entered his guilty pleas, however, he is expected to do so in the 8th Judicial District Court after his right to a preliminary hearing was waived. “This is the first step toward a fair resolution to this matter and we look forward to closure for all the parties involved,” attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld said in a statement released following Tuesday’s hearing. As things stand, both Ruggs’ attorneys and prosecutors are said to have agreed on a sentence of three to 10 years in a Nevada prison, but that hinges on the judge accepting the terms of that agreement.

“This resolution is conditioned upon the court accepting the stipulations of the parties,” Chesnoff said during the hearing. “In the event that the court does not accept the stipulations, Mr. Ruggs will be permitted to withdraw his guilty plea, proceed to trial and litigate all issues.” The 24-year-old former wideout is set to appear in court on May 10th.
