Chiefs address Rashee Rice’s situation

This past Saturday, a car registered to Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, Rashee Rice, was involved in a six-vehicle car crash in Dallas, Texas. As dashcam footage would later reveal, the 23-year-old player was among a group of men who fled the scene, resulting in a police manhunt. According to law enforcement officials, it is believed that the car registered in Rice’s name was racing another car. This brings us to the present where it is understood that Rice has retained counsel, while the franchise has finally commented on the situation.

Speaking during an interview on Monday morning, Chiefs president Mark Donovan addressed the situation “In all these situations you have to wait until you have all the facts and frankly, we don’t have all the facts at this point,” Donovan said. “The one comforting fact that we do have is that there was a multi-car crash in Texas, in Dallas, and fortunately, it doesn’t appear that anyone was hurt and we should be grateful for that. We’ll get to the bottom of it, we’ll gather the facts and we’ll react accordingly.”

Where complete context is concerned, reports indicate that two individuals required medical attention for minor injuries at the crash site, while two others were transported to the hospital with what were referred to as minor injuries. As seen in the above-mentioned footage, the individuals in both cars - a Lamborghini and a Corvette - did not check on any of the people involved in the accident before fleeing the scene. At this point, it remains unclear what course of action the league will take but it seems likely that we can expect to see Rice disciplined in some form or fashion.
