COWBOYS
What injury does Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks have? How long will he be out?
The Dallas Cowboys have added wide receiver Brandin Cooks to their list of injured starters heading into their Week 5 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
As if losing defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and linebacker Micah Parsons for Week 5 wasn’t bad enough, the Dallas Cowboys have now ruled out a starter on the offensive side of the ball as well. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks will miss the Cowboys’ Sunday night primetime game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cooks’ unusual knee issue
Cooks had a procedure done in New York that ended up giving him an infection in his right knee. That unusual issue is what has ruled him out of this week’s game against the Steelers on Sunday, and it could potentially keep him out for even longer.
Cooks is the WR2 behind CeeDee Lamb and had a great start to the season when the Cowboys beat the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, but has since failed to contribute much to the team. He had just one catch for 16 yards against the New York Giants in last week’s Thursday Night Football game. On the season, he has just nine catches for 91 yards and one touchdown. Besides Lamb, the Cowboys will rely on Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Ryan Flournoy, and Jalen Brooks at wide receiver with Cooks out.
The 2-2 Cowboys face the 3-1 Steelers at 8:20 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, October 6. You can follow along with all the action with our live text coverage of the game, brought to you by yours truly right here on AS USA.
