Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp was named the Most Valuable Player in Super Bowl LVI, and that was just the cherry on top of an incredible season. He also finished the campaign as Offensive Player of the Year, leading the league in catches, yards, and touchdowns.

The Rams are struggling offensively, and are currently 3-5 in the NFC West, but Kupp himself is not slowing down. He leads the NFL with a high 33% share of the targets, and has contributed 71% of the Rams’ receiving touchdowns, tied for the most in the league.

Chemistry with the quarterback

One reason for Kupp’s remarkable productivity is his chemistry with quarterback Matthew Stafford. The two of them reportedly watch films of their games together, and review the different aspects of the matches with each other. Stafford has a high level of confidence in the wideout, and trusts him to be where he should be during a play.

Listening to his teammates

Another factor for the 29-year-old’s constant improvement is that he persistently asks for feedback from his teammates after practice. He asks them for their observations when they play against him, and asks for pointers on how he could improve.

Knows the ins and outs of team offense

Kupp also has a good and detailed knowledge of the Rams’ offense. He studies it and comes to the game well-prepared, to the point that he can tell when a wrong call has been made. Knowledge of the team’s offensive line calls enables him to play faster.

Never-ending learning process

Perhaps the Pro-Bowler’s secret to his continuous improvement is his great desire to learn. He learns from films, from his teammates, and from the coaching team. He studies offense as well as defense.

The acknowledgement that there is always room for him to improve, and the discipline and desire to make himself better have resulted in Kupp’s remarkable progress from one season to yet another.
