What will the Titans do now that Taylor Lewan’s season has ended due to injury?

Given the kind of protection he offered and the fact that the Titans are still yet to win, this is a major setback for both team and player.

While injuries are part and parcel of the game, it’s never easy to see a player be sidelined for a season and unfortunately that’s what the Titans and their star are now facing.

Titans’ Taylor Lewan to miss rest of the season

Still without a win on the season and now having to cope with a season ending injury to one of their players, the Tennessee Titans aren’t in the best of shape. In case you hadn’t heard, offensive tackle Taylor Lewan is now set to sit out the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. Sadly, the injury itself occurred on the very first play of Tennessee’s opening drive during “Monday Night Football.” Lewan could be seen in clear discomfort and required help to leave the field before finally being carted to the locker room.

Interestingly, it was on Lewan’s own podcast, “Bussin’ With The Boys,” that news of the injury was first announced. “We come to you with sad news,” a post explained. “The boy, Taylor Lewan, is out for the season after his knee injury in the Buffalo game last week.” Indeed, the sad news was later confirmed by Ian Rapoport.

This isn’t the first time Taylor Lewan’s season has ended through injury

While you might think him jinxed, this isn’t the first occasion on which Lewan has seen his campaign come to an end due to injury. Just last season, the OT suffered a season-ending injury after tearing his ACL. The injury resulted in Lewan having to miss 11 games, which only amplifies the cruel nature of this latest development. A Pro-Bowl selection each season between 2016 and 2018, Lewan’s absence will most definitely be felt by the Titans.

For the moment it appears as though Tennessee will go with Dennis Daley as a replacement. It was in fact Daley who stepped in to replace Lewan on Monday night and head coach Mike Vrabel has since stated that he will continue to do so. “He filled in there and got some more work this week, so I am excited to see him go play,” coach Mike Vrabel said. Whatever the case, the Titans will need to improve on their 0-2 record after losses to both the Giants and Bills in Weeks 1 and 2 respectively.
