NFL fans have been eagerly anticipating the upcoming Netflix documentary, Revival, and the wait is almost over. In mid-June, the streaming service published the official trailer for the eight-part series, which will hit screens after the huge success gained by its predecessor Quarterback, which was released last year.

“It’s been said that there’s no more difficult position in the NFL than the quarterback”, the description reads. “But throwing the pass is only half the story. Receiver follows five of the NFL’s best pass catchers throughout the 2023 season on and off the field.”

“We were thrilled last summer to see audiences all over the world diving into the lives of NFL quarterbacks,” NFL Films supervising producer Joe Zucco explained. “We believe the extraordinary skills, dedication, and passion of the NFL’s great wide receivers, and one tight end, will make a perfect follow-up.”

When will ‘Receiver’ be released on Netflix?

Netflix announced its upcoming documentary Receiver, which will feature eight episodes - each with an average run time of 45 minutes, will premiere on Wednesday 10 July. All eight episodes will be released at the same time, so viewers can watch multiple episodes right from the moment the series drops.

Which players will feature in ‘Revival’?

As mentioned, while Quarterback focused on the NFL’s top QBs, this series will take a deep dive into the lives - both on and off the field - of those who catch the passes.

It is set to look at the 2023 season for stars like Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings), Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders), George Kittle (San Francisco 49ers), Deebo Samuel (49ers) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions).

The trailer, which you can see below, was released on 13 June:

Two-time Super Bowl winner Peyton Manning spent over a decade on the books with the Colts and the latter stages of his playing days with the Denver Broncos before calling time on a hugely successful career in March 2016. In 2021, he was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In 2020, he founded Omaha Productions which produces his popular Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli, (Manningcast) with his brother as well as other shows including Peyton’s Places and Eli’s Places.

Revival stars four wide receivers and one tight end, and Manning admitted last year that many players who were approached for both series were reluctant to be mic’ed up and followed around by cameras but he managed to find four top class candidates for his latest venture.
