When will Mike Evans be back for the Bucs? Injury status of Tampa Bay WR
Veteran wide receiver Evans was forced out of the Buccaneers' defeat to the Ravens after aggravating a hamstring problem.
The exact extent of Mike Evans’ hamstring injury still is not completely clear, on the back of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver aggravating an ongoing issue in the defeat to the Baltimore Ravens. But we certainly have a better idea.
When and how did Evans suffer his hamstring injury?
Evans was forced off in the second quarter of the Week 7 game at Raymond James Stadium, after appearing to hurt himself as he stretched to reach a Baker Mayfield pass into the Ravens’ end zone. The 31-year-old could be seen clutching the back of his right thigh in evident pain, and the Buccaneers subsequently confirmed that he would be unable to return to the contest.
Evans had been nursing his hamstring in the days leading up to the Ravens clash. Indeed, the problem had prevented the five-time Pro Bowler from taking part in practice on the Thursday and Friday, before he was a limited participant in Tampa Bay’s Saturday session.
Before leaving the game against the Ravens, Evans had become only the 11th player in league history to bring up 100 career receiving touchdowns.
Speaking to reporters after watching his team go down to defeat, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that Evans had suffered a recurrence of the same hamstring injury, but couldn’t offer any details about the gravity of the WR’s latest issue. A later MRI confirmed that he would likely be out for at least four weeks.
Which game will Evans return for Bucs?
With assessments done, the feeling is that Evans will not return until after the team’s Week 11 bye. The first game after that rest is against the New York Giants followed by the Carolina Panthers in Week 13 and Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14.
What is the Bucs' 2024 record?
Tampa Bay’s defeat to the Ravens left the Floridians with a 4-3 record in the 2024 NFL regular season. In Week 8, the two-time Super Bowl champions went down at home as the Atlanta Falcons won 31-26 at the Raymond James Stadium. Week 9 sees the Bucs with the daunting trip to reigning double champs, the Chiefs.
