SUPER BOWL LVII

The celebrations for the Kansas City Chiefs will go on for some time, but there’s an important piece of silverware that will complete the occasion.

The clash of Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts as the quarterbacks of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, respectively, was seen as a potential classic Super Bowl lined up. Two very strong supporting casts added to that belief and we were not disappointed. An early touchdown for both teams suggested it was going to be a high scoring game and we went into the spectacular halftime show from Rihanna (and a surprising guest) with Philadelphia leading 14-23, and Mahomes hobbling. Advantage Eagles.

The Chiefs’ star QB came out for the second half but there were some doubts as to how long he’d last. They were unnecessary. With a 7-3 third quarter to Kansas City and a strong start to the fourth, things turned in their favour, before Hurts made history by becoming the first quarterback to rush three touchdown in a Super Bowl to level things up at 35-35. The seconds were ticking down and the Chiefs managed them perfectly, setting up a field goal to win it. Mahomes and his teammates are champions, and a ring is due.

When do players get their Super Bowl rings?

Super Bowl winning teams typically receive their championship rings several months after the conclusion of the Super Bowl. The exact timing of when the rings are distributed can vary, but it’s usually during the offseason, prior to the start of the next NFL season. The rings are usually presented to the players, coaches, and other team personnel in a special ceremony, where they can celebrate their championship accomplishment with each other and receive their ring.

Here are a few examples of when Super Bowl winning teams have received their championship rings:

  • Super Bowl LIV: The Kansas City Chiefs received their rings in a private ceremony in July 2020
  • Super Bowl LV: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received their rings in a private ceremony in June 2021
  • Super Bowl LIII: The New England Patriots received their rings in a private ceremony in June 2019
