Who are the WRs featured on Netflix’s ‘Receiver’? NFL’s pass catchers on the streaming platform

A new group of NFL stars is to appear on the Netflix docuseries, which is the follow-up to last year’s successful show ‘Quarterback’.

It’s been a little under a year since NFL fans binged on Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’, the docuseries that followed star signal callers such as Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins. Now, the streaming platform is about to release ‘Receiver,’ another NFL-focused series. Only this time, the spotlight will fall on some of the game’s best pass catchers.

Which players will feature in the Netflix series?

The new series will take viewers inside the lives - both on and off the field - of four wide receivers and one tight end. The four WRs will be the Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, the Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams, the San Francisco 49ers’ Deebo Samuel, and the Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown. Samuel’s 49ers’ team-mate, George Kittle, will be the sole tight end.

When does ‘Receiver’ premiere on Netflix?

The eight-part series is scheduled to drop on Netflix on Wednesday 10 July 2024.

‘Receiver’ the “perfect follow-up” to ‘Quarterback’

Receiver will be jointly produced by NFL Films, Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, and Mahomes’ 2PM Productions. If they sound familiar, that’s because those were the same companies responsible for the production of ‘Quarterback’.

Manning, who was a two-time Super Bowl-winning QB with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, revealed last year that ‘Quarterback’ had been renewed for a second season - but he also disclosed that the process of finding willing participants was proving difficult, with stars such as Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, and Tua Tagovailoa all reportedly declining the chance to appear. Finally, a switch in focus was decided upon and the idea for ‘Receiver’ was born. Travis Kelce has since revealed he also turned down the chance to be involved.

“As we did with ‘Quarterback,’ we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skill set, and motivation for what drives them to be the best,” Manning said when ‘Receiver’ was announced in March.

NFL Films’ supervising producer, Joe Zucco, added: “We were thrilled last summer to see audiences all over the world diving into the lives of NFL quarterbacks. We believe the extraordinary skills, dedication, and passion of the NFL’s great wide receivers - and one tight end - will make a perfect follow-up.”
