Brandt grew up in Sumner, Iowa, with her parents and three siblings. She studied at Sumner-Fredericksburg High School, where she played on the volleyball team before graduating from in 2018.
Brandt then moved to Iowa State to study Kinesiology. In the same year, Purdy moved to Iowa State, where he would eventually meet his future fiancée. It wasn’t until November 2022 that the couple officially announced their relationship on Instagram. In a post on Brandt’s account, she shared photos of Purdy together with her family.
