Who is Judy Trammell from Netflix’s ‘America’s sweethearts’?
The woman responsible for choreographing America’s sweethearts once danced in the iconic Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform herself.
Netflix’s new series, “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” takes viewers behind the scenes of the lives of the iconic Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, from the grueling audition process all the way through the NFL season. As part of that, we get to know the people responsible for creating, growing, and maintaining that elite squad.
Who is Judy Trammell?
Enter, DCC head choreographer Judy Trammell. Together with director Kelli Finglass, Trammell is one of the main people who decides on the final 36 cheerleaders out of hundreds of applicants.
Trammell was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader herself from 1980-1984, during which she was a group leader and show group member. She has an impressive background in dance, with 16 years of experience in jazz, tap dance, drill team, and pompom. When her cheerleading tenure ended, Trammell became the assistant choreographer, and in 1991, when Finglass was promoted to director, Trammell was promoted to head choreographer. She and Finglass were the first two former cheerleaders to join an administrative role in the DCC organization and both still hold their positions to this day.
Trammell is responsible for choreographing and producing the DCC routines for sidelines and pregame shows as well as the halftime shows for all Cowboys home games. She is also the one to come up with the routines for the DCC show group and the DCC musical variety show.
In addition to the work she does with the DCC, Trammell has done the choreography for a number of celebrities. Here’s a list of some of her accomplishments:

Trammell was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from R.L. Turner High School. She married Dick Trammell in 1978 and the couple has been together ever since. They have three children - Taylor, Cassie, and Blair. Cassie was also a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader from 2008-2013 and served as a group leader in her final two seasons.
