Who is richer, Tom Brady or Gisele Bündchen?
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have announced that they have filed for divorce, and in such matters, the issue of money invariably crops up: who is worth more?
After some weeks of reports and speculation regarding marital troubles between Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen, the two celebrities have made it social-media-official: they have posted that they have amicably filed for divorce.
One thing that makes this legal process often troublesome and thorny is the issue of money- who gets what, and who has more. With both of them having successful decades-long careers, it is clear that they have been earning serious money for quite some time. In 2016, they were listed by Forbes as one of only two power couples on the Celebrity 100 list, the other being Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
Who is richer, Tom or Gisele?
This question - who is worth more between Brady and Bündchen - is actually impossible to answer accurately unless you’re them or their lawyers or advisers. That’s because who knows what they’ve agreed between themselves on who holds what property and assets in their marriage.
We also don’t even really know how much they’re worth, because at best we’ve got an idea what they’ve earned, but who knows what they’ve spent over the years. (Even exactly what they’ve brought in is a black box, because in addition to their headline salaries or major campaigns, they do all sorts of endorsement work bringing in even more).
BUT! What we do know is that Bündchen, has almost certainly seriously out-earned Brady over their respective careers. Forbes named her as the highest paid model in the world for the FOURTEENTH year in a row in 2016. And she doesn’t just model, she’s a brand ambassador, has partnerships with media groups like SkyTV in Brazil and she also has her own businesses including a skin care line. AND she published a bestselling memoir Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life. Some estimates have her net worth pegged at $400 million.
Brady has certainly brought in the bucks as one of, if not the, greatest quarterbacks of all time. His total career salary earnings are estimated at $333 million by the end of this year, and with endorsements he’s expected to top $420 million, plus he’s got a neat $20 million or so from his lifestyle brand TB12. The 45-year-old’s net worth is estimated to be much lower than his wife’s at some $250 million.
Exactly who owns what and how much each of them have in assets we’ll never know, but the fact is, elite supermodels are better at making money than quarterbacks, and Bündchen will continue to out-earn Brady over their lifetimes. Either way, they’ll both be fine financially after the divorce is done and dusted.
