Who is Tim Boyle, the Giants' backup QB? Career stats, salary, contract…
Boyle became the New York Giants’ fourth quarterback of the season after Tommy DeVito was ruled out against the Ravens.
The New York Giants have endured a miserable year, epitomised by their 2-11 record from their first 13 games of the 2024 NFL season. And things continue to go from bad to worse for Brian Daboll’s team, with backup quarterback Tim Boyle forced to replace Tommy DeVito midway through the week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
DeVito, who has only just become a starter following Daniel Jones’ release, was ruled out of the second half due to concussion, with Boyle becoming the Giants’ fourth quarterback of the season.
Tim Boyle’s NFL career
The 30-year-old has previously spent time with a number of NFL franchises (the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins, to be precise) but has only played 22 games (five as a starter) since his debut appearance for the Packers in 2019.
In those games, he has thrown for a total of 1,087 yards (an average of 5.2 yards per attempt), four touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
After playing two games for the Dolphins earlier this season, Boyle joined the Giants’ practice squad on November 19, the day after Jones was released, and was promoted to the active roster four days later.
Boyle’s contract with the Giants
According to Spotrac, Boyle signed a one-year, $1.125 million contract with the Giants, which includes a base salary of $250,000 and carries a cap hit of $218,889.
