Why isn’t George Kittle playing for the 49ers against the Rams? Week 3 injury status
Kittle has been ruled out of the San Francisco 49ers’ trip to face the Los Angeles Rams.
Tight end George Kittle will play no part in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 3 clash with the Los Angeles Rams, having picked up a hamstring injury that has left him unable to participate in practice since Wednesday.
The 49ers initially listed the five-time Pro Bowler as doubtful for today’s game at SoFi Stadium, but yesterday downgraded his status to out.
Kittle started both of San Francisco’s first two games of the 2024 regular season - a Week 1 win over the New York Jets, and a Week 2 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings - but 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Friday that the 30-year-old had complained of hamstring trouble during the team’s preparations for the trip to Los Angeles.
“[Kittle] and Charvarius [Ward] were sore after practice [on Wednesday], like a number of guys are, and they came in Thursday morning and were still sore, and still today with Kittle,” Shanahan said.
Who else is injured for the 49ers in Week 3?
The 49ers are also without running-back Christian McCaffrey, who has Achilles tendinitis, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who has a calf problem. What’s more, defensive end Nick Bosa (rib) and cornerback Ward (hamstring, knee) are both questionable for the match-up with the Rams.
