Why isn't Justin Fields playing against the Giants in MNF week 8?
The Steelers star’s fitness has been questioned ahead of a huge game against the Giants.
It’s bad news for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who look set to be without Justin Fields against the Giants after the 25-year-old suffered an injury late in the week.
Despite being in full training all week, Fields was an unexpected addition to his side’s injury list who are 5-2 this season.
Fields completed 106 of 160 pass attempts (66.3%) for 1,106 yards, with five touchdowns, one interception, and a passer rating of 93.9. Additionally, he rushed 55 times for 231 yards and five touchdowns. He is tied for seventh in the NFL for rushing touchdowns and ranks first among non-running backs.
What injury does Justin Fields have?
According to NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Georgia native suffered a hamstring “tweak” and will not be available for the game against the Giants, with Russell Wilson stepping into the team in his place.
Wilson, who finally returned last week from a preseason calf injury, will be backed up by Kyle Allen. Allen made a single appearance during Wilson’s absence, playing two snaps when Fields was evaluated for a concussion in the team’s Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers currently do not have a fourth quarterback within either their active roster or practice squad.
The game between Giants - Steelers will be played on Monday October 28, with kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 p.m. PT.
