Why isn’t Mike Hilton playing for the Bengals against the Ravens? NFL Week 5 injury status
The Bengals are in a bind after a bad start to the campaign and that reality isn’t helped by the status of their veteran cornerback ahead of Sunday’s game.
In Week 5 the Cincinnati Bengals are facing a must-win game against the so-so Baltimore Ravens who have seen better days. While it would be fair to say that Cincy’s finest have been struggling to find form, their cause has also been hindered by injuries.
Mike Hilton isn’t looking likely
After featuring in all four of the Bengals’ games for the season, veteran cornerback Mike Hilton is now questionable ahead of the team’s Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Needless to say, this is a loss for Cincinnati as the 30-year-old has notched 12 tackles across those games.
Yet, such is the way the cookie crumbles, and after suffering a knee injury in Week 4′s 34-24 win over the Carolina Panthers, it should be said that Hilton has not participated in practice all week. Indeed, that would suggest that the ‘questionable’ tag that he has received ahead of Sunday’s game is hopeful at best.
Now, assuming that Hilton can’t face the Ravens, cornerback duties will likely fall to rookie Josh Newton. Of course, the Bengals could always choose to promote Jalen Davis as he has been impressive with the practice squad recently. Ultimately, at 1-3, the Bengals can lament the loss of personnel but truthfully, they can’t dwell on it as there is no wiggle room. Meanwhile, the Ravens are sitting on a record of 2-2 and fully aware that like their opponents on Sunday, there is no margin for error.
