Update:

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill will play no part for the Dolphins this weekend - or at any point in the remainder of the season - after suffering a serious injury in Miami’s Monday Night Football win over the New York Jets.

The 1-3 Dolphins visit the Carolina Panthers - who also head into Week 5 with just a single win to their name - at Bank of America Stadium today.

What injury does Tyreek Hill have?

Hill has been ruled out for the rest of 2025 after dislocating his knee and tearing multiple ligaments - including his anterior cruciate ligament - during Week 4’s 27-21 win over the Jets at Hard Rock Stadium. He underwent surgery this midweek.

Hill was beginning his fourth season with the Dolphins. He had lost his status as a team captain during the summer, after publicly indicating his desire to leave in a controversial interview in January. He later apologized for his comments, putting them down to “frustration” at Miami’s failure to reach the 2024 postseason.

In four starts for the Dolphins in 2025, Hill registered 265 receiving yards for one touchdown.

“Eager to let his teammates know he missed them”

Speaking to reporters this week, Miami head coach Mike Mcdaniel revealed that the injured Hill surprised his Dolphins colleagues with an appearance at a team meeting on Friday, describing the encounter as “really cool to see”.

“He made an entrance that I hadn’t given the team a heads up to,” Mcdaniel said. “I’m pretty sure the energy of the team meeting was pretty good, but it definitely gave it an uptick and he was eager to let his teammates know that he missed them. I was eager to tell his teammates that, ‘See, Tyreek misses these team meetings. You guys are lucky.’

It was a really good moment for guys that spend their waking lives together and something that was really cool to see for Tyreek and for the team.”

Despite Mcdaniel’s positive words, it has been reported that the Miami front office is considering Hill’s future at the franchise in the wake of his major injury. Per CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the Dolphins may release the 31-year-old before the 2026 season.

A receiver who previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill is in the second year of a three-year contract extension agreed with the Dolphins in 2024. The eight-time Pro Bowler was traded from Kansas City to Miami in 2022.
