Why this player could be the next Patrick Mahomes
Jayden Daniels was one of the surprises of the season with the Washington Commanders.

The Patrick Mahomes era continues. Despite the Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Kansas City quarterback’s numbers were solid. Yet behind him, a new star seems to be emerging—one ready to follow in the footsteps of the three-time Super Bowl champion.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was one of last season’s biggest surprises, leading the franchise to the NFC Championship Game before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles. This year, however, his sights are set even higher.
Thursday night’s matchup showcases two NFC contenders. Daniels is chasing a Super Bowl berth, but so is Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers, who come in with a stronger defense and a familiar face for Washington’s quarterback.

At the start of the season, Daniels’ jersey ranked as the NFL’s third-best seller, according to the NFL Players Association (NFLPA). Only Super Bowl champions Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts sit ahead of him—while he surpasses stars like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson.
Micah Parsons, now the centerpiece of the Packers’ defense, looms as a major threat to Daniels but has also acknowledged his talent.
“I think he has the potential to be Patrick Mahomes-caliber,” the defensive end said in a video shared by the NFL on its Top 100 Players to Watch list.

Micah Parsons is already making a difference in Green Bay, and he has always dominated Washington, including 4.5 sacks on Jayden Daniels last year.
