Will Giants running back Malik Nabers play against the Bengals in Week 6?

The Giants’ rookie wide receiver has been one of the standout additions to the NFL this season. Sadly, fans won’t be able to see him show that in Week 6.

After losing one of the best running backs in the league, the New York Giants went out and got a player who looks set to become one of the best wide receivers. Not bad. Unfortunately, injury has derailed his path for the moment, and with that, Week 6 is a no-go.

Malik Nabers ruled out of Week 6 clash with Bengals

According to reports, New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is the latest player in the NFL to fall victim to a concussion. To that end, Nabers has been officially ruled out for Sunday night’s primetime game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Where details are concerned, Nabers suffered the concussion in late September during a game against the Dallas Cowboys, making this the second consecutive game that he has missed as a result of being in the league’s concussion protocol. Needless to say, this is a tough situation for the Giants and their fans who have watched as Nabers hit the ground running - literally and figuratively - in what is his first season in the NFL. To date, the former LSU star has caught 35 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns in four games.

Regarding how the injury occurred, it was during the second half of the team’s 20-15 loss to the Cowboys on September 26th when he took a heavy hit. Before leaving the game, the 21-year-old had caught 12 passes for 115 yards. Though this news is undoubtedly a blow to the Giants who are currently 2-3, the team can take comfort in the fact that Nabers appears to be doing better. The pass catcher was spotted at a Travis Scott concert at MetLife Stadium earlier this week which would suggest that he’s on the mend.

That said, not everybody was pleased with his appearance such that Giants head coach Brian Daboll was pressed for an explanation. After making it clear that any inquiries would be kept “in house”, Daboll went on to confirm that Nabers did not violate any team rules or the league’s protocols by attending the concert. As mentioned before, the Giants will face the Bengals this Sunday. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium. Don’t miss it.
