Will Aaron Rodgers leave the Green Bay Packers after not making the playoffs?

Once again, Aaron Rodgers is making us wonder whether his career with Green Bay is to come to an end anytime soon

The Green Bay Packers have been eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday with a 20-16 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions.

Their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, who was expected to make magic for Green Bay this season, has dealt with this sort of disappointment several times before having missed the playoffs in 2008, 2010, 2013, 2017, and 2020 campaigns. But the question now is will the 39-year-old quarterback continue for a 19th season with Green Bay after another missed playoffs?

The four-time league MVP and Super Bowl champion said after the loss that his feelings were too raw to think about that. And while he is as efficient with the ball as he’s ever been, he knows there are other factors that have to be addressed.

“It could be time to step away”

Rodgers added that “I need to get away and contemplate those things. Those are real to me. I have a lot of pride in what I’ve accomplished in this league, but I’m also a realist and I understand where we are as a team. We’re a young team, and there could be some change with some of the older guys. It could be time to step away. But, I could take some time and say, ‘Hell, no. I need to get back out there and go on another run.”

After all, this is the first time in Rodgers’ starting career that he finished a season without posting a single 300-yard game, with 17 of 27 for 205 yards. Once that sinks in, we will get to see who the real Rodgers really is.
