Update:

During the third quarter of their game against the Detroit Lions, the Dallas Cowboys were given a huge injury scare as their star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb left the field with a concussion that looked to be quite serious. The Cowboys went on to lose the game and seriously hinder their already-bleak playoff outlook.

Heading into Week 15, the Cowboys are getting ready to face the Minnesota Vikings in another critical game. They need as much help as they can get, so Friday’s news came as a warm welcome.

CeeDee Lamb cleared concussion protocol, good to go vs Vikings

The good news was that the Cowboys and Lions played on a Thursday last week, so that gave Lamb extra time to recover before their game this Sunday against the Vikings. On Friday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Lamb had officially cleared the concussion protocol and is confirmed to start on Sunday.

Lamb progressed well throughout the last week, with just one limited practice on Wednesday. By Thursday, he was already a full participant in practice again.

“The process has been cool,” Lamb said on Thursday. “Obviously it’s been a lot of eye work and eye discipline and trying to, I guess, frustrate myself essentially to see if I have any more residuals of the concussion and if I had any type of symptoms. As for me now, it’s been heavy on rest, to be honest. Doing everything, me knowing my requirements, kind of getting ahead of everything, especially with the extra 2-3 days that we had off, I feel like that was big.”

Lamb’s season has been up and down so far thanks to injuries, drops, and being overshadowed by fellow receiver George Pickens, but over the last two games, he reminded Dallas exactly why he’s so valuable, with 233 yards and a touchdown, despite exiting the most recent matchup early.

The Cowboys badly need his resurgence as they cling to slim postseason hopes, holding just an 11% chance to make the playoffs and a 9% chance to win the NFC East. With multiple teams ahead of them in the Wild-Card race and the Philadelphia Eagles struggling, Dallas’ clearest path to the postseason runs through a division title.
