Will Cooper Rush play for the Cowboys against the Packers in the Wild Card game?

As they prepare to take on the Packers in a Wild Card Round showdown, the Cowboys can rest easy knowing that none of their stars have been ruled out.

Update:
Los Cowboys deberán estar una semana más sin Dak Prescott y Mike McCarthy ha organizado de tal manera para que Cooper Rush sea el titular vs Eagles.

While injuries don’t seem to be a major concern coming into this weekend’s game, it appears that illness very much is. Nonetheless, at 12-5 the NFC East champions are heavily favored over their opponents on Sunday.

What’s the injury situation for the Dallas Cowboys

With the NFL playoffs upon us, many teams arrive at this stage with niggling injuries or sickness. Indeed, it’s typically unheard of that a team makes it to this stage with 100% of its roster healthy. Yet, it’s also not common to see teams sitting players who have not suffered a severe injury. To that end, as much as there are players that have been listed on the Cowboys’ final injury report, it would be surprising if none of them suit up on Sunday given what’s at stake, as well as the fact that none appear to be seriously hurt.

Yet, we’ve got to talk about backup quarterback Cooper Rush. While the Cowboys can count on their starter, Dak Prescott, it goes without saying that entering a game as importnant as this one without cover, is not ideal. Indeed, reports now indicate that Rush is currently suffering from an illness. It’s worth noting that this is the fourth consecutive week in which the Cowboys have listed a player on the injury report with an illness i.e., there is a nasty bug passing through Dallas’ roster. With this in mind, it may be that we get our first glimpse of former 49ers QB, Trey Lance, who was acquired via trade back in September. Below you can see the Cowboys’ final injury report:

It’s worth mentioning that even though Gilmore and Smith specifically suffered serious injuries, it’s the postseason which is to say it’s almost assured that they will be on the field on Sunday. Where Gilmore is concerned, he actually separated his shoulder in last week’s game against the Washington Commanders, however, reports indicate that he will be playing with the use of a shoulder harness. As for Smith, the left guard suffered a complete plantar fascial tear two weeks ago. That said, it’s understood that the main concern for him is pain tolerance. Ultimately, the Cowboys are more or less in good shape which could be a problem for the Packers who can’t exactly say the same.

Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT.
