Will Davante Adams play in Jets’ Week 7 game vs Steelers?
The Raiders are finalizing a trade with the Jets that will see WR Davante Adams reunite with QB Aaron Rodgers. When can we expect him on the field?
The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to trade wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets. In exchange, the Raiders will receive a conditional third-round pick that could go to a second-round pick.
The trade comes after the relationship between Adams and the Raiders became strained, leading to a request by Adams to be traded. Shortly after, it was revealed that the Jets were his top pick for his next team. He’ll now join a the team led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom he played with for eight seasons during his time with the Green Bay Packers. The two were one of the best quarterback-receiver duos in the league at the time with Adams averaging 119 receptions, around 1,463 yards receiving and 14.5 touchdown receptions per season in his last four seasons with Rodgers and the Packers.
When could Davante Adams make his start for the New York Jets?
Adams had missed the Raiders’ last three games with a hamstring issue but could return to practice this week. If that’s the case, he could be ready to make his Jets debut as early as this Sunday, when the Jets face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Not only will he join Rodgers, but Adams also joins a Jets team with a talented group of skills position players, including wide receivers Garrett Wilson, former Packers teammate Allen Lazard, and Mike Williams. The Jets also have talent at running back with Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. The addition of Adams to the team comes just after New York’s firing of head coach Robert Saleh.
Adams played with the Raiders for just two full seasons, joining the team in 2022. He was traded from Green Bay in exchange for two draft picks, including a 2022 first-rounder. He was given a five-year, $141.25 million contract, becoming the highest-paid wide receiver in the league at the time. Reunited with his college teammate, quarterback Derek Carr, in his first season in Vegas, Adams led the league in receiving touchdowns (14) and added 100 catches for 1,516 receiving yards. He’s still considered one of the best receivers of his era as he joins the Jets.
