Doubts have been swirling about the likely appearance of Pittsburgh’s wide receiver as the team face up against a recent foe from Cleveland.
The Pittsburgh Steelers face a crucial Week 14 clash against the Cleveland Browns, a team that stunned them just two weeks ago in an upset victory. As the two AFC North rivals prepare for the rematch, fans, especially those with some crucial fantasy decisions to make, have a question needing answered: will star wide receiver George Pickens suit up for Pittsburgh?
Pickens ‘expected to play’ against Browns
Unfortunately, as I write this I’m unable to give you any more information than Pickens, listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury, remains a game-time decision. He picked up the injury late in the Steelers' Week 13 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, a rare offensive explosion for the team this season. Since then, Pittsburgh has exercised caution, limiting the 23-year-old in practice all week. While optimism surrounds his status, the team is not ready to commit just yet.
Adam Schefter of ESPN weighed in, reporting, “Steelers WR George Pickens, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a hamstring injury, is expected to play vs. the Browns but the team wants to test him pre-game to make sure he’s good to go considering he hurt it late in the week.”
Translation: barring any setbacks in warmups, Pickens should be on the field. But as anyone who follows the NFL or other sports knows, hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky and can flare up at the worst possible moments.
