Will Kenneth Walker III play for the Seahawks against the Vikings? NFL injury update
The Seattle Seahawks were without the running back last weekend due to a knee injury, having recently returned from a calf complaint.
The Seattle Seahawks' four-game winning streak was ended last weekend with a 13-30 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Seahawks will look to return to winning ways against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and are boosted by the return of Kenneth Walker III from injury.
Walker has been absent for Seattle’s last two games, first due to a calf injury and then a knee complaint. The knee injury saw him listed as doubtful after coach Mike McDonald said that he was unable to practice all last week. However on Thursday he returned to full team practice and was removed from the injured list later that day.
The 24-year-old has been a standout performer in 2024, rushing for 524 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games this season. His ability to break tackles and make explosive plays has been a key component of the Seahawks’ offensive strategy.
Seahawks ready for Vikings challenge
The Seahawks have been in good form in recent weeks but their record (8-6) pales in comparison to the Vikings, who have managed a 12-2 record across the season. Minnesota have gone 5-1 on the road, too, meaning that they will not be daunted by the trip to Lumen Field on Sunday.
Ahead of the game Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald paid tribute to their upcoming opponents, saving special praise for Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold: “Just feels like he’s playing really decisive, really confident. You can see all the talent coming to life. So I think he’s doing a heck of a job.”
But the Minnesota success this season is not based entirely on Darnold having a career year. Receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison have been imperious out wide and dominant in aerial situations. MacDonald is only too aware of the Vikings' attacking prowess.
“I mean their offense is playing at a high level and the arm talent is there. Being able to hit all the throws and all the areas of the field seems like he can get it there pretty seamlessly and it’s on time. And then one thing about his game that we respect is the ability to extend the play. So that’s something we’re going to have to account for as well.”
