Quarterback Matthew Stafford had raised alarm bells in the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a hamstring strain, and his return was on hold days before the start of the NFL season, but it seems the franchise has a more encouraging outlook.

Head coach Sean McVay clarified the situation for fans and said that the player will be ready for Week 1 of the season on September 8 against the Lions, although he could miss some practices with the team. This is to help him recover from his injury.

“If we miss a couple of days this week if that’s the approach we’re taking to be safe, you’ll still have two and a half weeks to prepare for Detroit,” McVay said.

Matthew Stafford left a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday because of hamstring tightness. The Rams are scheduled to practice Monday and Tuesday at California Lutheran University and practice with the Houston Texans on Thursday before facing them in their final preseason game on Saturday.

The 36-year-old veteran quarterback threw for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 15 appearances last season, leading the team back to the playoffs.
