Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was in concussion protocol all week after leaving the game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a violent tackle that left him disoriented during the last quarter.

Head coach Nathaniel Hackett announced at a press conference that the quarterback has cleared the protocol, but will not play against the Arizona Cardinals, their Week 15 opponent.

Preparing for the Rams

Russell Wilson passed concussion protocol. With that said, as an organization, we decided to give him one more week to get ready to face the Los Angeles Rams,” Hackett said.

The head coach said Brett Rypien will be the starting quarterback against Arizona.

Hackett said that Wilson is not pleased that he is not starting this week.

Russ is one of the most competitive players, he’s not happy with the decision because he wants to play. However, we decided that it is in the best interest of the organization and for Russell that he not play,” said the head coach. “We trust Ryp(ien).. we’re excited for him.”
