Following the horrible events that occurred just over a month ago, news of the RB’s return isn’t just welcome, it’s a blessing.

Commanders’ Brian Robinson Jr. returns 5 weeks after shooting

According to a team announcement on Wednesday, the Commanders are in for a big boost following their Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. As per the team’s injury report, rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. has officially been designated to return to practice. Also worth mentioning - in case you didn’t know - is that earlier this week, coach Ron Rivera indicated that he was optimistic, that Robinson would in fact be able to make his NFL debut, in their Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Robinson, has of course been recovering from two gunshot wounds, which he sustained in his lower body during an attempted robbery in August. At the time, the Commanders player was sitting in his car. Robinson was later placed on the ‘non-football injury’ on September 1st, which in turn resulted in his absence for the team’s first four games. It now seems, that things are about to change.

Who is Brian Robinson Jr. and what can we expect?

Though selected in the third-round of April’s draft, Robinson came with a certain degree of anticipation surrounding him. After a sensational final season with Albama, it would be fair to say that there was definitely interest around the league. How good was that final season? Robinson rushed for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns, while averaging five yards per carry. In addition, he also caught a more than impressive 35 passes for 296 yards and two scores enroute to a sixth appearance in the College Football Championship game.

Given that Robinson has yet to play in the league, it will be interesting to see how quickly he can integrate. On the bright side, he’ll be joining the likes of Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic. Where Gibson is concerned, he’s currently leading the team with 53 carries for 173 yards and two touchdowns. As for McKissic, it’s been quite eye-opening to see how well he’s performed at WR with 19 receptions. Indeed, that’s actually the second-highest on the team. So, where does that leave Robinson? The thing is this: With a 1-3 record and currently ranked 26th in league in scoring and 21st in rushing, they can definitely use his help.
