Make sure you join us for more meals on the third last day of Olympic action in 2024!
Medals all handed out on Day 13 of the 2024 Olympics!
That, ladies and gentlemen, is that! Today's medals have all been claimed, so there's only question - which one did you like the most?
Maybe it was Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's world record 400m hurdle gold?Noah Lyles' Covid-impacted bronze in the 200m? Cindy Ngamba's first ever medal for the Refugee Olympic Team?
Or something else entirely perhaps?
Boxing gold for China's Chang Yuan!
It's gold for China! That could prove crucial at the top of the medal table...Chang Yuan is the woman who's got it in the 54kg boxing category! She won her final against Türkiye's Hatice Akbas, who gets the silver.
Pang Chol-mi of North Korea and Im Ae-ji, who's from south of that particular border, get the bronzes. There's no Korea derby, however.
Boxing gold for Uzbekistan's Dusmatov!
More boxing, but this time, it's gold! Uzbekistan's Hasanboy Dusmatov has won the men's 51kg event, defeating Billal Bennama of France in the final of the tournament!
Junior Alcántara (Dominican Republic) and Daniel Varela de Pina (Cape Verde) take the two bronzes on offer (you know the drill by now).
Cindy Ngamba makes Olympic history for Refugee Olympic Team!
For the first time since it was founded in time for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, the Olympic Refugee Team has won a medal! And boxer Cindy Ngamba is the history-maker, taking one of two bronze medals in the women's 75kg category. What a moment!
Caitlin Parker of Australia takes the other bronze, with China's Li Qian and Atheyna Bylon of Panama reaching the gold medal match.
Team USA into men's basketball final!
Was there every any doubt? There, I told you I'd say it. We saw it against South Sudan in the USA Basketball Showcase and we've seen it again against Serbia in the 2024 Olympic games semifinals! No matter how many points the United States are down (13 at one point in the third quarter), you can just never write them off.
36 points for Steph Curry and Steve Kerr's team are through to a fifth straight Olympic final, where they'll face host nation France. They are guaranteed a medal, but which colour will it be?
Team USA to face Italy for gold in women's volleyball!
Earlier on today, Team USA qualified for the women's volleyball final as they look to win a second straight gold medal in that competition. We now know that they will face Italy in the final, after they defeated Türkiye 3-0 in the semifinal.
Team USA comeback against Serbia in men's basketball
Not directly medal related, but indirectly so. Team USA were 13 points down to Serbia in the men's basketball semifinals just a few moments ago. Now, the deficit is only five. If they come back to win, I'll say 'was there ever any doubt?'. You can be sure of that.
Seven minutes to go. The winner is guaranteed a medal.
Boxing bronzes for Australia and Bulgaria!
The men's 57kg boxing semifinals have just finished, and Australia's Charlie Senior and Javier Ibáñez of Bulgaria, who both lost, are confirmed as bronze medalists.
Abdumalik Khalokov of Uzkebistan and Munarbek Seiitbek Uulu from Kyrgyzstan will (literally) fight it out for gold and silver.
Taekwondo gold for Republic of Korea's Kim Yujin!
But that's not all, oh no. Kim Yujin has won a gold for the Republic of Korea in the women's -57kg category! She also won 2-0 in the final against the Islamic Republic of Iran's Nahid Kiyanichandeh (silver).
The two bronzes, as is the norm in taekwondo, go to Skylar Park of Canada and Bulgaria's Kimia Alizadeh.
Taekwondo gold for Uzbekistan's Rashitov!
Ready for some taekwondo goodness? I've got a double whammy coming up. First, Uzbekistan's Ulugbek Rashitov has taken the gold medal in the men's -68kg category for the second Games in succession! He defeated Jordan's Zaid Kareem in both rounds in the final, with China's Liang Yushuai and Brazil's Edival Pontes both claiming bronzes for their respective countries. Bravo, as they say in Paris.
Weightlifting gold for Indonesia's Juniansyah!
All hail Indonesia's Rizki Juniansyah in the men's 73kg weightlifting class! Not only has he scooped a gold medal, he's also achieved an Olympic record 199kg clean and jerk, along with a 155kg snatch for a 354kg total.
Thailand's Weeraphon Wichuma and Bulgaria's Bozhidar Andreev tried their best to keep up and gave it a good old go, but have to settle for silver and bronze respectively.
Grant Holloway avenges Tokyo defeat
World champion Grant Holloway took gold in the men's 110m hurdles finals as it ended first and second for the United States. Daniel Roberts came in second in a photo finish with Jamaica's Rasheed Broadbell clocking 13.09 for bronze.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone sets new world record!
Another world record falls by the wayside in Paris. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone crossed the line way ahead of the rest on 50.37 seconds in the women's 400m hurdles final.
Femke Bol's WR time of 50.95 second set on 14 July lasted just less than a month. Both women are the only ones on the planet to run sub-51 seconds.
McLaughlin-Levrone's team mate Anna Cockrell took silver with a personal best of 51.87 with Bol, third on 52.15.
Giant leap for Davis-Woodhall
Tara Davis-Woodhall has won the women's long jump, recording 7.10m on her fourth attempt.
Germany's Malaika Mihambo finished second on 6.98m and Jasmine Moore, third on 6.96m to make it gold and bronze for Team USA.
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem sets new men's javelin Olympic record
In his second attempt, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem set a new OR in the men's javelin throw final.
His javelin touched down at 92.97m - overtaking the previous record of 90.57 set by Andreas Thorkildsen at Beijing 2008.
Dramatic finale in the men's hockey final
The Netherlands held their nerve to win the men's hockey final via a tense penalty shootout after it ended 1-1 against Germany. Two misses from the spot ensured the Dutch go home with gold as the shootout finished 3-1.
India beat Spain to secure bronze
Benjamin Thomas recovers to win omnium gold
Benjamin Thomas suffered a fall in the men's omnium but managed to hold on to clinch first place, finishing with a total of 164 points.
Portugal's Iúri Leitão came in second and Belgium's Fabio van den Bossche, finished third.
Another gold for Iran
Saeid Esmaeili secured a 6-5 victory on points over Parviz Nasibov to take the men's GR 67kg and deliver the second gold medal of the Games for Iran.
Ellesse Andrews seals gold for New Zealand
Reigning world champion Ellesse Andrews picked up the women's keirin gold, finishing ahead of Netherlands' Hetty van de Wouw and Great Britain's Emma Finucane.
Morocco take bronze in men's football
Morocco served Egypt a 6-0 thrashing to secure the bronze medal in the men's football.
Soufiane Rahimi was on target twice to take his tournament total to eight which put him in line to finish as the top scorer at Paris 2024 - his closest rivals, France's Jean-Philippe Mateta and Spain's Fermín López would need to score four in tomorrow's final just to pull level.
China top of the medal table!
Those recent gold medals for China mean that they have leapfrogged Team USA at the top of the medal table, with 28 golds to the Americans' 27.
A reminder that China last topped the medal count at the Beijing Games in 2008. The USA have led the standings at every Summer Games since.
Sailing gold for Team GB
In sailing, Great Britain's Ellie ldridge has taken gold in the women's kite final.
Luo Shifang sets OR on way to weightlifting gold
Another gold for China: Luo Shifang has won the women's 59kg event in weightlifting, with an Olympic record of 241kg.
Canada's Maude Charron has taken silver, with Chinese Taipei's Kuo Hsing-chun completing the podium.
Xie Siyi wins diving gold for China
In diving, China's Xie Siyi has won gold in the men's 3m springboard final, ahead of compatriot Wang Zongyuan and Mexico's Osmar Olvera Ibarra.
Hockey bronze for India
India have won bronze in the men's hockey tournament, beating Spain 2-1 at Stade Yves-du-Manoir.
Harmanpreet Singh scored both goals for the Indians, after Marc Miralles had put the Spaniards ahead.
Australia's silver medallists (back left), Germany's gold medallists (front centre) and Spain's bronze medallists (back right) pose for a selfie during the medal ceremony following the men's kayak four 500m final.
It's not medal news, but it is news of two medallists. Swimmer Katie Ledecky and rower Nick Mead, who have both contributed to America's gold-medal tally in Paris, have been chosen as Team USA's flagbearers for this weekend's Olympics closing ceremony.
Germany wins men's kayak four 500m gold
In the last canoe sprint event of the day, there was an exciting finish between Germany and Australia, with Germany crossing the finish line just ahead of Australia, with Spain snatching the bronze medal placee.
This win means that Max Rendschmidt has now won his fourth Olympic gold in the event and has been undefeated in all of his Olympic races since Rio 2016, including heats.
New Zealand win women's kayak four 500m gold!
New Zealand had to fight for the gold medal because Germany stayed alongside them throughout the entire race. However, the Kiwi team of Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett, and Tara Vaughan managed to hold on and win in a time of 1:32.20.
This victory marks Carrington's seventh Olympic medal, making her New Zealand's most decorated Olympian in history. It's truly a remarkable achievement!
Germany secured the silver medal, while the Tokyo 2020 champions, Hungary, took home the bronze.
China win men's canoe double 500m gold!
The Chinese pair of Ji Bowen and Liu Hao took an early lead and held onto it throughout the race, finishing in 1 minute and 39.48 seconds to claim the gold medal.
The Italian team of Gabriele Casadei and Carlo Tacchini secured the silver medal, while Joan Antoni Moreno and Diego Dominguez from Spain won the bronze.
Italy win mixed multihull gold!
Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti have become back-to-back Olympic champions! The Italians knew that they essentially needed to have a clean showing and not finish too low in the medal race to take the gold, and that's exactly what they did, finishing second to claim the title.
The silver medal goes to the Argentinian crew of Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco, while Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson won New Zealand its first medal in this event with a bronze.
Indonesia win's men's Speed gold
Veddriq Leonardo, the 2023 overall World Cup Speed champion, has now become an Olympic gold medallist!
The 27-year-old set a personal best of 4.75 seconds, narrowly edging out Wu Peng (CHN) in the final (4.77 seconds). In the bronze medal matchup, Sam Watson (USA) set a new world record with a remarkable time of 4.74 seconds, securing his place on the podium.
Austria win mixed dinghy gold!
In the new medal event for Paris 2024, the Austrian boat helmed by Lara Vadlau and crewed by Lukas Maehr won the gold medal! Despite finishing only seventh in the medal race out of 10 boats, it was enough for them to clinch the top spot on the podium overall.
Okada Keiju and Yoshioka Miho of Japan, who finished third in the medal race, won the silver medal, while Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson of Sweden won the bronze.
14 years of surfing dreams
What a fabulous post here from the Olympics social media team, highlighting the journey of a recent gold medal winner.
A few days ago, 22-year-old Kauli Vaast won the surfing competition which took place in Teahupo’o, Tahiti. And the fairytale has been a long time in the making.
Women's 4x100m relay hots up
It wasn't the smoothest of qualifiers for Team USA in the women's 4x100m but they came through a somewhat dodgy baton change to post the fastest time.
Team GB could well be the biggest threat to the US for gold while France and Germany may also be in the mix.
Women's heptathlon underway
The seven-sport event for the women is off to an impressive start with Adrianna Sulek-Schubert winning her 100m hurdles heat in a time of 13.32.
As European Athletics reminds us, the 25-year-old Polish athlete is a very recent new mother.
In the other heat, Annik Kaelin (SUI) hit a PB of 12.87, with Taliyah Brooks (USA) second with 13.00 and Belgium's Noor Vidts third with 13.10.
I mentioned the mascot for the 2024 Olympics in Paris earlier, as 'it' was handing out weightlifting advice, but how much do you about Phryge?
The red, white and blue character was unveiled at the end of 2022 and, as you would expect, everything about it is rather French.
Van Rouwendaal takes women's marathon swimming gold
The first gold medal of the day goes to the Netherlands' Sharon van Rouwendaal in the Seine.
With a time of 2:03:34.2 she adds to her gold in Rio 2016 and silver in Tokyo 2020. Incredible!
Silver here went to Australia's Moesha Johnson in 2:03:39.7 (bumping up the country's total in third place on the medal's table above) and bronze to Italy's Ginevra Taddeucci 2:03:42.8.
As well as the long swims in the Seine, action is also getting underway at Le Golf National. The women's individual golf competition begins its second round with France's Celine Boutier leading by three shots lead after she carded a seven-under 65 yesterday.
Talking of those confident gents that rarely miss a bus, we had a little chat ahead of the Paris Olympic sprints with the world record holder in both the 100m and 200m. The one and only Usain Bolt.
He had plenty to say, including talking about his mentor, Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo and more, but the initial focus was on the races. His 100m WR is still in tact, as he predicted, but he's less confident about today's 200m...
Lyles back for more
That 200m final (at 14:30p.m. ET) will see Noah Lyles line up with ambitions of following up his 100m gold with another... and the relay also ahead for a golden treble.
Could he really break Usain Bolt's 200m world record? He believes he can, but these sprinters are rarely talking down their abilities.
Weightlifting tips
Our Paris 2024 mascot has some advice for those lifting weights later today in search of a medal.
In case you missed it yesterday, with the help of a Michael Jackson-inspired routine that has since gone viral, USA Artistic Swimming was able to make it to the finals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris where it clinched its first medal in the event since the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
The team secured a silver medal.
Marathon swimming has morning focus
The River Seine (which has had some controversy over its rather dirty nature) has all our attention this morning. Well, it's more about the brave swimmers within it that we're keeping an eye on.
Long distance race medals will be the first confirmed of the day.

Welcome to Paris Olympics Day 13
Hello once again and I hope that you're ready for yet another day of incredible action.
Given that they don't come around as often as some other competitions, I'd almost forgotten just how intense the Olympic Games can be. Every day lines up another bunch of amazing athletes taking their abilities to the next level. Loving it!
So to today, Thursday, August 8, and we have 27 gold medal events! 27!!
So, let's get our coverage back on track (sorry!) as we kick off another day.
