Brazil bag gold in beach volleyball
Brazil's Ana Patricia Silva Ramos/Eduarda Santos Lisboa win women's gold after three-set drama as they were forced to dig deep to beat Canada's Melissa Humaña-Paredes/Brandie Wilkerson 26-24, 12-21, 15-10 for gold.
France beat Belgium in overtime thriller
The men's and women's basketball gold medal games will feature the same two teams: favourites USA and hosts France.
On Friday evening, France had to hold strong for a big 81-75 overtime win against Belgium, who had tied the game at 66-66 with a three-pointer made with eight seconds left in regulation.
The French fans at Bercy Arena went wild with the win sending them through to face the seven-time repeat defending champions USA.
Algeria's Imane Khelif wins boxing gold
Algeria's Imane Khelif beat China's Yang Liu to claim the gold medal in the women's welterweight boxing at the Olympics on Friday.
Khelif, a silver medallist at the 2022 world championships, and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting have been in the spotlight at the Paris Games amid a gender dispute that has dominated headlines.
Janjaem Suwannapheng of Thailand and Taiwan's Chen Nien-chin were awarded bronze.

Japan's Ami Yuasa wins first-ever breaking gold at Paris Games after a battle with Lithuania's Dominika Banevic to dance her way to the first Olympic gold medal ever awarded for breaking on Friday.
Yuasa, known as B-Girl Ami, immediately broke out an impressive air flair to start the final and laid down a series of halos to seal the 3-0 win over B-Girl Nicka and bring the crowd at La Concorde to their feet.
Benjamin takes 400m hurdles gold
Rai Benjamin finally got the better of great rival Karsten Warholm to win the Olympic 400 metres hurdles title on Friday, continuing the United States’ athletics gold rush and foiling the Norwegian’s bid to be the second man to retain the title.
Benjamin, second behind Warholm in the Tokyo final and with two silvers and a bronze in world championships, always looked in control and ran an equal season’s best 46.46 seconds
Three in a row for Nafi Thiam
History made in the women's heptathlon. Belgium's Nafi Thiam picks up her third straight gold medal after winning the event in Rio, Tokyo and now Paris.No other athlete, male or female has won a combined event in three consecutive Games.
Nafi totalled 6880 points, ahead of world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson on 6844 and compatriot Noor Vidts who took bronze on 6707.
Spain edge hosts in eight-goal thriller taken to extra time
Spain and France played out a tense and exciting final in the men's football final which was taken to extra-time. Santi Denia's team were 1-3 up at half-time but Les Bleus fought back and were level on 90 minutes.
Two strikes from Sergio Camello in extra-time made it 3-5 on the whistle.

La Roja win their first men's football gold medal in 32 years, having won when they staged the Games at Barcelona 92.
Marileidy Paulino sets new Olympic record in the women's 400m final
Marileidy Paulinoset a new Olympic record, 48.17 seconds, in this evening's 400m final - beating the mark of 48.25 set by France's Marie-Jose Perec at Atlanta 1996.
She also becomes the first woman from the Dominican Republic to win an Olympic gold medal.
Paulino finished ahead of 2019 world champion Salwa Eid Naser (48.53) and European champion Natalie Kaczmarek (48.98).

Canada storm home in men's 4x100m relay
Team Canada finished first in the men's 4x100m relay final, finishing on 37.50 seconds.
South Africa set a new continental record of 37.57 to take silver while Team GB came in third on 37.61.
Team USA win sprint relay final
The United States team of Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, Gabby Thomas and Sha'Carri Richardson - the favorites to win the women's 4x100m relay, raced away with the gold medal, crossing the line on a season best time of 41.78 seconds.
Team Great Britain collect silver, finishing on 41.85 and Germany take bronze on 41.97
Italy cruise to women's Madison gold
Italy took their Paris 2024 gold medal tally to 11 after winning the women's Madison final with a total of 37 points (17 sprint points and 20 lap points).
The Italians finish ahead of Team GB (31) and the Netherlands (28).
Varfolomeev feels the rhythm
Darja Varfolomeev took gold in the individual all-around final with a huge score of 142.850 points.
Bulgaria's Boryana Kaleyn claimed silver with 140.600 points and Italy's Sofia Raffaeli, bronze on 136.300 while Varfolomeev's team mate and close friend Margarita Kolosov just missed out on the podium. Distraught, she was consoled by the new Olympic champion.
China breeze past Sweden in men's team table tennis final
China's Wang Chuqin, Fan Zhendong, and Ma Long beat Sweden 3-0 in today's men's team table tennis final.
It brought up a sixth Olympic gold for Ma Long - the most successful table tennis player in Olympic Games history
Germany beat Spain to claim bronze
Germany beat the reigning world champions Spain in this afternoon's bronze medal match in Lyon.
Giulia Gwinn fired in the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on 65 minutes, while Alexia Putellas had the chance to level the score nine minutes into stoppage-time but saw her spot-kick saved.
Diving gold for China's Chen
In diving, China's Chen Yiwen has on gold in the women's 3m springboard final, with Australia's Maddison Keeney in second. Another Chinese diver, Chang Yani, has won bronze.

Argentina take hockey bronze
Argentina have won the bronze medal in the women's hockey tournament, beating Belgium on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Bontus wins men's kite gold
In sailing, Valentin Bontus has won gold for Austria in the men’s kite final, with Slovenia’s Toni Vodisek taking silver. Singapore’s Max Maeder completes the podium.
