China get gold!
Quan Hongchan takes a sensational gold in the women's diving 10m platform after a truly stunning performance that saw her complete a perfect round of 10s.
The 27-year-old American closed out her time at Paris 2024 with four medals, but she complained about the strange circumstances during her final event.
Simone Biles complained about the atmosphere at the balance beam as she won silver in her final event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, saying the silence was “weird”, despite having requested music “several times”.
“The most stressful apparatus is always the balance beam. It was really weird and awkward. We’ve asked several times if we can have some music or some background noise. I’m not really sure what happened there, but, yeah, not our favorite. None of us liked it”, she told AP.
The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee is offering American athletes a five-figure cash reward for winning gold in Paris, plus smaller amounts for taking silver or gold.

Kukuk crowned
Germany's gold medallist Christian Kukuk (centre) celebrates with Swiss silver medallist Steve Guerdat and Dutch bronze medallist Maikel Van Der Vleuten after winning equestrian's individual jumping final today.
Medal winners at the Games also get a certificate known as the 'Olympic diploma', which is also presented to athletes who finish between fourth and eighth in each event.
Aside from that coveted Olympic medal, Christian Kukuk and his fellow top-three finishers will receive a small, rectangular cardboard box during the individual jumping event's podium ceremony.
Jumping gold for German's Kukuk
That individual jumping final is now complete!
Germany’s Christian Kukuk has won it, taking gold ahead of Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and the Netherlands’ Maikel van der Vleuten.
Von Eckermann falls in jumping final
In equestrian, the individual jumping final is closing in on its conclusion - and there has been a shock.
The world No. 1, Dutchman Henrik von Eckermann, is out of contention for a medal after falling from his horse during his routine.
Andrade, Biles and Chiles make Summer Games history
Another notable moment on day 10 of the Games came at Bercy Arena, where Rebeca Andrade, Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles completed an all-Black podium for the first time in Olympic gymnastics history.
Brazil's Andrade took gold in the women's individual floor exercise, with Team USA pair Biles and Chiles in second and third, respectively.
Duplantis does it again in pole vault
Yesterday also witnessed a notable gold-medal-winning feat by the US-born Armando Duplantis, who secured his second straight pole vault title with a world-record jump of 6.25m.
Duplantis competes for Sweden, the country of his mother, former heptathlete Helena. In this piece, AS USA's Sveto Pavlovic looks at the 24-year-old's reasons for choosing Sweden over the USA.
Biles was asked yesterday about her plans for the next Olympics, in Los Angeles in 2028.
She was cagey about her prospects of returning to the Games in four years' time, telling a press conference: “Never say never."
Also among Team USA's medal winners yesterday was superstar gymnast Simone Biles, who rounded off her involvement at Paris 2024 by taking silver in the floor exercise.
Biles now has 11 Olympic medals to her name, including seven golds.
AS USA's Pablo Caycedo has this report on the 27-year-old's final day at the 2024 Summer Games.
Team USA leading the way
Team USA head into day 11 sitting top of the Paris 2024 medal table, after Monday's action saw the Stars and Stripes move to 21 golds so far. That's level with China, but the USA's tally of 30 silvers takes them to the summit.
Among America's Olympic title winners on Monday was discus star Valarie Allman, who made Olympic history. Her gold medal made her the first US woman ever to win a field event twice at the Summer Games.
