Rowing gold for British women

The medals are starting to fly in today. No sooner have the Netherlands won gold than they've been pipped to it by a late surge from the British women.

Rowers Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson, and Georgina Brayshaw take the Olympic gold in the women's quad sculls over the Dutch by .15 of a second.

Netherlands row their way to gold

The men's quadruple sculls title goes to the Netherlands team, two of which were also in the four that won it in Tokyo. Tone Wieten, Koen Metsemakers, Lennart van Lierop and Finn Florijn claimed gold in a time of 5:42.00

Silver went to the Italian team and bronze was won by Poland.

Cassandre Beaugrand wins gold for hosts France

Beaugrand came home in the women's triathlon to rapturous applause and screams from her compatriots on the streets of Paris, and claimed gold. France slide up into second place in the table for the time being.

Julie Derron added a silver medal for Switzerland and Team GB's Beth Potter takes the bronze. Well done to everyone in that event. A tough gig!

2024 Paris Olympics Day 5: welcome

Good morning and welcome to the fifth day at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. There are 25 different sports taking place today and a grand total of 18 gold, silver and bronze medals (ok that's actually a total of 54!) being dished out for outstanding performances when it matters.
