If we're honest, the imagery and symbolism is hard to work out at this point in time.
However, the story seems to be about a traveler from the future who descends into the shadows of the present.
The lights go out at the Stade de France, and a light show begins with musical accompaniment from drums.
Tribute to the volunteers at the Olympics
None of this would be possible without the incredible work of the volunteers. The 45,000 volunteers played a fundamental role in carrying out the event. It's also their time to enjoy!
We're watching a video of the successful marathon in which anyone could do the same route that the athletes did during the Olympics. The experience included all the sights and routes of the marathon competition.
We're still not done with the medals!
Now is the moment to award the last medals for the women's Marathon, which took place earlier today. The medal will be awarded to the women's category in the closing ceremony for the first time. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe gave the honors.
The bronze medal goes to the Kenyan athlete Hellen Obiri; the silver medal goes to the Ethiopian Tigst Assefa, while the gold medal goes to the Dutch Sifan Hassan.
Time for "We are the Champions"!
First, the classic Gala Rizzatto's song plays at the Stade de France and all the athletes and fans present jump to the rhythm of the music.
Afterward, the iconic song "We Are the Champions" by Queen is played inside the stadium. Definitely, all the athletes present are true champions!

Unlike the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony is taking a more traditional approach.
The flag bearers go out first, and the athletes follow, all inside the stadium and without boats around!

Where is the Paris 2024 Olympic Games closing ceremony taking place?
We are getting closer to the Olympic Games closing ceremony, and it is time to find out where it will take place.
Unlike the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony will occur behind closed doors at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, where the athletics competitions took place. The stadium was inaugurated in January 1998 and has a capacity of 80,000 fans.

Julien Alfred made history for Saint Lucia
Saint Lucia is a small island in the Caribbean with less than 200,000 inhabitants. It has never won an Olympic medal, but the Olympic Games always offer the chance to make history, and that's what sprinter Julien Alfred did: win the first medal for her country.
Alfred won gold in the women's 100m final against favorite Sha'Carri Richardson with a time of 10.72 compared to her rival's 10.97. As if one medal wasn't enough, the 23-year-old also won the silver medal in the women's 200m race.
Mijaín López: an Olympics wrestling legend.
The 41-year-old became the first athlete in history to win the gold medal in five Olympic Games: Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
These Paris Olympic Games were the last for the Cuban, who retired in style: he defeated the Chilean Yasmani Acosta in the final.
The Queen of Artistic Gymnastics
Simone Biles had one of those fantastic redemption stories that sport offers. The gymnast had to withdraw during the team finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games due to mental health issues.
However, with a recharge of energy and impetus, Biles proved that she is still the best. The 27-year-old athlete won gold in the Women's team finals, individual all-around, and vault. What's more, she also won a silver medal in the floor exercise.
He didn't win the gold, but he did win the hearts of the people
Yusuf Dikec became an internet sensation with his particular shooting style during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Turkish won the silver medal in the mixed team's air pistol competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Medina lost in the semifinal against the Australian Jack Robinson, but he won the bronze medal after beating the Peruvian Alonso Correa.
A Swede who flew in Paris
The pole vault final took place at the Stade de France, and the Swedish athlete Mondo Duplantis had one attempt left to beat the world record he had already broken.
With a mix of effort, talent, and the mystique of sport, the Swede rose through the air of Paris to leapfrog 6.25 meters and establish a new world record in front of 75,000 screaming fans.
Katie Ledecky is still the GOAT in swimming
The 27-year-old athlete keeps making history for the United States. Ledecky became the most successful swimmer in history, surpassing Jenny Thompson. The American can boast of winning 14 medals throughout her Olympic career: nine golds, four silvers, and one bronze.
At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Ledecky won gold in the Women's 1500 m freestyle and 800 m freestyle, silver in the Women's 4 x 200 m freestyle relay, and bronze in the Women's 400m freestyle.
Destined for glory
Swimmer Leon Marchand was one of France's top athletes during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The 22-year-old athlete won 5 medals (4 golds and 1 bronze).
The Frenchman won the gold in the Men's 200m individual medley, butterfly, and breaststroke and the Men's 400 m individual medley swimming competitions. As if it was not enough for him, he broke the Olympic Record in the 200-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter butterfly on the same day.
The best 100m final ever?
Let's see some of the best moments during the 2024 Olympic Games.
Undoubtedly, one of the most memorable moments in the Athletics competition was the 100m final, where Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson had a photo-finish final.
Both sprinters finished with a time of 9.79, and to determine the winner, we had to look to the thousandths of a second. The American athlete recorded a time of .784, while the Jamaican .789.
For the opening ceremony, NBA legend LeBron James and tennis star Coco Gauff were Team U.S. flag bearers.
For this closing ceremony, gold medalists Katie Ledecky and Nick Mead were announced as as Team USA’s flag bearers.

What an amazing ending we had at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games medal table. After their outstanding women's basketball tournament victory, the United States and China finished with 40 gold medals each!
So, if both are tied, who won?
The overall number of Team USA medals is the tiebreaker. The Americans won 126 medals (40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze), while China ended their Olympic cycle with 91 (40 gold, 27 silver, and 21 bronze).
Japan claimed the third spot in the table with 45 medals (20 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze)
Who won the last gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?
After almost three weeks of competitions, the United States can boast of winning the last gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the women's basketball tournament!
The Americans beat hosts Francein the final in a must-watch game. Both teams led on the scoreboard during the game, but it was towards the end of the last quarter when the Americans managed to take advantage of their rivals and finish with a score of 67-66.

Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao were the architects behind the Chinese's first victory, defeating South Korea in the final with a score of 16-12. Surprisingly, Kazakhstan beat Germany in the bronze medal match and got on the podium.

For 19 days, people all across the world saw the best athletes compete in one of the most significant sports events, but now it is time to say goodbye.
The closing ceremony will start in just under an hour and a half, and we are excited to see what has been prepared this time and what the handover celebration for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games will be like.
