Taylor Swift joins the celebration after Breezy Johnson’s Olympic finish-line proposal
Olympic skiier Breezy Johnson won a gold medal, got engaged, and got a personal shoutout from Taylor Swift in the same week. Not a bad 2026 so far.
From one bride-to-be to another, Taylor Swift is sharing the love. The global superstar jumped into the comments to congratulate U.S. alpine skier Breezy Johnson after Johnson got engaged to longtime partner Connor Watkins in one of the most unforgettable moments of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Watkins popped the question at the finish line of the women’s Super-G event in Cortina d’Ampezzo. And yes, the proposal included a very intentional nod to Swift’s music.
A proposal inspired by “The Alchemy”
Watkins proposed using a ring box printed with lyrics from Swift’s song “The Alchemy”, specifically the line: “Who are we to fight the alchemy?” The romantic gesture immediately caught fans’ attention, and it didn’t take long for Swift herself to notice.
Swift commented on Johnson’s post with another lyric from the same song, writing: “‘Where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me’ CONGRATULATIONS!!!”
The moment felt especially full-circle, as Swift herself is newly engaged after NFL star Travis Kelce proposed last August.
A golden week for Breezy Johnson
The engagement capped off a whirlwind week for Johnson, who had already won gold in the women’s downhill event earlier in the Games. The proposal took place at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Center just moments after Johnson crashed during her Super-G run, her final race of the Olympics.
Despite the chaos of the moment, Johnson later told NBC that getting engaged at the Olympics had always been a dream.
She said, “That was my hope, but it’s definitely a lot more crazy with everything just happening all at once, and the reality of it is so different than the way you imagined, and so much better.”
Watkins revealed that he had been planning the proposal for over a year, hoping everything would line up so he could propose at the finish area.
“It turned out we could,” he told NBC, adding that the moment went “above and beyond our wildest imagination.”
Between an Olympic gold medal, a finish-line proposal, and a congratulatory comment from Taylor Swift herself, Johnson’s 2026 Winter Games experience turned into something straight out of a movie.
