It was 7:30 p.m. on Monday when the 56-year-old engineer filed a report at a police station near Gare Du Nord. According to the news outlet, the backpack contained a computer and a USB drive containing ‘sensitive’ information regarding the security plans for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games.
The information detailed that, for the event, the Municipality had planned to deploy 2,000 police officers, mostly municipal agents. The theft occurred while the engineer was seated on platform 18 of the Gare du Nord station.
In the report, the individual noted that he had left the backpack in an overhead compartment above the seat where he was seated, and later, when he was about to change trains, he realized it had disappeared. The Regional Transportation Security Service decided to conduct various investigations to try to clarify what happened and retrieve as much information as possible.
