What’s Imane Khelif’s boxing record? Has she lost to any other women?

The Algerian boxer has hit the headlines following her fight against Italy’s Angela Carini.

On Thursday August 1, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif made the headlines the world over following her victory in the Olympic Games’ 66kg boxing category against Italy’s Angela Carini, who quit after just 46 seconds into her round-of-16 match. It took just one significant punch from the Algerian to land for Carini to walk over to her coach in the corner. She dropped to her knees and her hand was raised as she bowed out.

Just last year, the International Boxing Association (IBA) disqualified Khelif from the women’s World Championships in New Delhi after she failed a gender eligibility test, and since then her name has been shrouded in controversy.

Many have wrongly believed Khelif to be a transexual; however this is not true, and the Olympic Comittee released a statement saying that “the current aggression against these two athletes (Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting) is based entirely on [an] arbitrary decision by the IBA”.
