OLYMPIC GAMES
Who sang at the closing ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?
Big names are set to perform at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The opening ceremony of Paris 2024 was one of the most impressive feats in Olympic history, as it was the first time that the celebration did not take place in a stadium, instead travelling through the heart of the city along the River Seine.
The athletes’ parade took place along the river with boats shared between nations, ending in front of the Trocadéro, where the rest of the party was had. Throughout the parade we saw plenty of performances, including Lady Gaga and Céline Dion, who closed out proceedings with a memorable show.
And as if that wasn’t enough, more surprises are expected for the closing ceremony on Sunday, August 11, the starting gun for the 2028 Games, to be held in Los Angeles. According to several reports, this event is set to show off some of the west coast’s finest talent.
Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to perform
The shift from Paris to Los Angeles as the 2024 Olympics closing ceremony will include performances by Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, multiple sources told Variety.
According to reports, the three artists will be seen from Los Angeles in a mix of pre-recorded and live performances. Producer Ben Winston will be in charge of coordinating the performances with the French producers of the closing ceremony.
As well as this, according to the newspaper Le Parisien, French acts Phoenix and Air will also be present at the closing of the Olympic Games from Paris.
Tom Cruise will also be part of the closing ceremony
During the Closing Ceremony, performances from Los Angeles are also expected to include a stunt show by Tom Cruise.
According to multiple reports, a pre-recorded video will show Cruise riding a motorcycle through France before “appearing” to parachute next to the iconic Hollywood sign.
The choice of the singer, rapper and rock band, as well as Cruise, comes as no surprise, as all four represent the city. Billie Eilish is a native of LA, Snoop Dogg represents West Coast rap, and has acted as an Olympic correspondent in both Tokyo and Paris.
On the other hand, the Red Hot Chili Peppers emerged from the Los Angeles punk scene in the 1980s. As for Cruise, he is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. At the end of Sunday’s closing ceremony, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will accept the Olympic torch.
The curtain will come down on the 2024 Olympic Games when the closing ceremony is held at the Stade de France on Sunday August 11, at 1:30pm ET/10:30am PT. Viewers in the United States will be able to watch the event on NBC, Peacock and the NBC Sports app. Your streaming options also include fuboTV, which offers users a free trial.
