With the curtain set to come down on what promises to be an exciting US Open final, there are some interesting tidbits of information to unpack. The Spaniard booked his ticket to the finals by way of defeating the last American hope in the form of Frances Tiafoe. Indeed, the five-set thriller proved to be too much for the home crowd’s hope who was fresh off of beating Rafael Nadal.

As for his opponent, the Norwegian got the better of Karen Khachanov in the other semifinal and with that now stands just one win away from his first ever major title. As mentioned before, the pair’s presence in the finals guarantees that regardless of who wins, we will have a first time US Open champion. With reigning champion Daniil Medvedev and the aforementioned No. 2 Rafael Nadal out, the door is well and truly open for the entrance of a new star of tennis.
