After seeing Serena Williams fighting to play another day and Stefano Tsitsipas getting stunned in his opener in Day 1, the second day of the US Open promises more excitement at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Four-time title-holder Rafael Nadal resumes his quest for a 23rd major trophy against wildcard Rinky Hijikata of Australia. The reigning Australian Open and Roland Garros champion is favored to win in Flushing Meadows, but it remains to be seen how well he has recovered from the abdominal injury that forced him to withdraw from the Wimbledon semifinal.
