From Tiger Woods’ return to the Scottish coast, to Scottie Scheffler’s continued march forward, the 2024 Open Championship has proven to be exactly what we hoped for so far. Can the top players of the golf world continue the pace on Friday?

2024 Open Championship: Round 2 pairings & tee times

It’s the final major of the year and with that, the 2024 Open Championship has seen 156 golfers head to Scotland at Royal Troon with the hopes of winning the oldest tournament in golf. Indeed, now in its 152nd edition, the so-called British Open will offer a host of golf stars an opportunity to write their names into the history books.

Regarding the details, Brian Harman is of course the defending champion at the Open Championship, having dominated the field at Prestwick Golf Club in 2023. The American put down the opposition last year by an impressive six strokes to take his first major, but after finishing Round 1 tied at 42 with a +2, it would be safe to say he’s got his work cut out for him if he’s going to become the first back-to-back winner of the tournament in 16 years. The same can be said for Tiger Woods, who despite taking the spotlight with his return, was only able to muster an 8-over 79 at the end of play on Thursday i.e., outside the projected cutline.

With that, we come to Scottie Scheffler, who is understandably the favorite in this year’s tournament having already picked up six wins on the tour in 2024 already. That said, the Texan will have to see off strong challenges from the likes of 2014 Open Championship winner Rory McIlroy, 2024 PGA Championship victor Xander Schauffele, and 2024 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau. Of course, none of those men are the current leader. No, that honor belongs to Irishman, Shane Lowry, who is currently sitting on a -5 ahead of Friday’s play. So, here’s a look at the full list of tee times and pairings ahead of Round 2 on Friday:
