2024 Genesis Scottish Open: Round 1 tee times, groupings and featured groups
A week before the Open Championship takes place in Troon, the Renaissance Club hosts the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open. Check out the first-round tee times.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy is the favourite for victory at this week’s Genesis Scottish Open, as the Northern Irishman returns to action following his heartbreaking near miss at the US Open.
An event co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, the Scottish Open kicks off on Thursday July 11 and will be held for the sixth straight year at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. The tournament comes a week before the season’s fourth and final major, the Open Championship, also takes place on Scottish soil, at Royal Troon Golf Club.
McIlroy just ahead of Schauffele in Scottish Open betting
World No.2 McIlroy, whose 10-year wait for a fifth career major goes on after Bryson DeChambeau pipped him to the title at Pinehurst Resort last month, is rated at between +650 and +800 to win the Scottish Open, per Oddschecker. PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele, currently ranked third in the world, is the second favourite for victory in North Berwick, with bookmakers valuing the 30-year-old at between +850 and +900.
The star-studded Scottish Open field also includes several other members of the world’s top 10, such as Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, ranked as the planet’s fourth-best men’s player. Aberg is priced at between +1200 and +1400 to claim his first career win at the event.

Can McIlroy bounce back from US Open disappointment?
Seeking his first major since winning the 2014 PGA Championship, McIlroy was two shots clear with five holes to play at the US Open just under a month ago. However, two costly misses from short putts allowed DeChambeau to beat him to the trophy by one stroke, the American clinching the first major title of his career. Speaking ahead of the Scottish Open, McIlroy told reporters that after a period of soul-searching, he is now able to draw positive conclusions from his narrow defeat to DeChambeau.
“[I] sort of was alone with my thoughts for a couple days [after the US Open], which was good,” McIlroy said on Wednesday. “I had some good chats with people close to me, and as you start to think about not just Sunday at Pinehurst but the whole way throughout the week, there was a couple of things that I noticed that I wanted to try to work on over the last few weeks coming into here, and obviously next week at Royal Troon Golf Club. They were hard but at the same time, as each day went by, it became easier to focus on the positives and then to think about the future instead of what had just happened.”
